My Claim to Fame..

Finally the photo from the shoot I assisted on has been released! It was taken by Mario Sorrenti for the Liu Jo Jeans campaign. It was probably one of the best days of my life being on this shoot, the New York team were all so friendly and welcoming and it had a surprisigly chilled out feel about it! Can't lie the clothes are a tad tacky but who cares I got to see Kate Moss in the flesh (I now get what all the fuss is about, she is b-e-a-u-tiful), get a real feel of what i want to do in the future and meet one of the best fashion photographers around at the moment!

Black House - Colin Jones

Mum got me this book from her anniversary getaway. It's an amazing collection of photo's by Colin Jones where he documented the lives of the people who lived in the Harambee Project, a hostel for troubled black youth during the 1970's otherwise known as 'The Black House'. It is a very interesting book and has got me thinking about a project for the future. I've got a few of those hipster squatters living a couple of doors down and think it would be interesting to document the new generation of squatters in a similar way to Colin Jones. I just need to grow the guts to ask them!

Pearly Blazer Project a Success!

Boredom over the christmas days got me getting all crafty. I dug up this old H&M blazer from the bottom of my wardrobe that I never wore and decided to do a bit of upcycling. Had a browse through the sewing box at home and found some pretty nice silver vintage buttons and so decided to start this project. I set a deadline and all and managed to get it finished - all by hand might I add - in a couple of days and heres the final result. Hopefully will be doing some more clothes soon. Probably a better use of my time then gobbling down the Quality Street watching The Grinch!

My Work : B&W Studio Portraits

These are a few of the photographs I took for my photography mock. It was inspired by the work of Du Bois' studio portraits from the 1900s and was my first time working with film in a studio. The surprisingly quick shoot was followed by a full 7 hour day in the dark room churning out loads of prints. Overall a pretty successful exam piece.

Gavin Watson

Just discovered photographer Gavin Watson who's work is a mix of photographs documenting the skinhead culture and more recent fashion shoots.
The documentation of the skinhead sub-culture is different to the usual photo's shown of the racism and violence, instead they focus on the fun and the fashion. His fashion shoots are also different to the usual commercial stuff we see on billboards and in magazines showing more personality aswell as the clothes.

Les Trompe L'oile De Chanel

Just got these limited edition Chanel Temporary Tattoos delivered. Managed to get a bargain of £2.50 per sheet from ebay rather than the RRP of £45 from Selfridges! They've been all over the catwalks this season and are a pretty cool accessory. They last about 8 days on the skin and are really easy to put on. Not sure about spending £45 on them but they're definatly worth the £2.50!
